Adornment Guide

Adornments are essential part of player gear. They are “mini upgrade” for any piece of armor, jewelry and weapons, which can be added to your worn equipment to add some sort of effect or proc. First off, there are several different types of adornments:

  • White, which come from crafting, as drops from mobs or quest rewards
  • Yellow, obtained only in chest drops from heroic instances
  • Red, obtained only in chest drops in raid or challenge mod instances
  • Purple, crafted and purchased with alternate currency
  • Blue, battlegrounds adornments (which are just a copy of red, yellow and purple for BG gear)
  • Green, which can be crafted or obtained in chest drops from overland zones, heroic and raid instances
  • Cyan, obtained only in chest drops from various contested instances
  • Temporary, which only last for certain duration, and can be crafted or obtained in chest drops

Each of these adorns can be adorned in an item that has corresponding colored adornment slot. Every gear piece that isn’t flag as ORNATE always has at least one white adornment slot. Red, Yellow, Purple, Green and Blue have their own color slots, but unlike white, there’s only a limited selection of gear which contains these slots from certain xpac. For example, only the gear from lvls 85-92 can have yellow and/or red adornment slot. Each type of these adornments is further unique, and provides a special benefit.

What this article will do is

  • Identify each adornment category and provide some background info
  • Explain where and how to obtain these adornments
  • Provide necessary recipes and how to obtain them for crafting purposes
  • Address issue of removing adornments

What this article will not contain

  • Adornments which are not normally available (like reward adornments from Race to Trakanon event server)
  • Blue Adornment section – Blue adorns come from Battleground. They can be purchased from BG vendors and are intended for use in BG gear. They are exactly same in both name and effect as their yellow, red and purple adornment counterparts.

Primordial White Adornments

Primordial white adornments have only recently been introduced. They go into white adornments slots. In function they are somewhat similar to green adornments. These primordial adorns once equipped will level with you and increase in power. They have a limit of levelling after which they stop increasing their effects. However, if player is already max level, these adorns will automatically cap to max of their value when adorned.

Recipes for these adornemnts can be purchased from any guild recipe vendor or adornment vendors like one in Butcherblock Mountains. They’re pretty cheap. Recipe requires a rare fragment, which is obtained through harvesting nodes of corresponding tiers, and seem to be extremely rare. The other material needed is in for of Amalgamations. These amalgamations comes from crafting and to get the recipes you have to progress through AoM stoyline Shipwrecked.

IMPORTANT failure to complete the combines appear to return the fuel, not the rare!
