Let’s talk game and class mechanics. Following builds will offer you an optimal statistics for all 3 tiers of dungeons, solo, heroic and raid:

Important notes:

  • These are general builds and they will work for any class. However, each class has its own specific tweaks that will help you improve your toons even further. This however requires testing, which I recommend you do on your own. That is by far the best way to learn specifics of your class.
  • There are 3 tiers of stats:
    • Solo: Stats in this column should be more then sufficient to comfortably run through Advanced Solo content with ease. Assume that you should have these stats all on your own.
    • Heroic: Stats in this column are best for optimal run of heroic zone content. Note however, that while in a group, though various group buffs, many of your stats may be boosted.
    • Raid: This column is used if you’re raiding. Much like in heroic zones you should get many group and raid buffs that will significantly boost many of your stats. Your aim is to max out as many stats as you can, most importantly stats that will define your groups overall DPS, like potency, crit bonus, flurry, doublecast, abil mod, etc. Keep in mind that you will not always end up in the same group or with same classes so your boosted stats may vary each raid. Prepare and research for this. Try to figure out which stats are getting capped while in a raid and work on reducing any unnecessary excess.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask around in worldchat if you need further help setting up your toons. As with every game there will be trolls & elitist d-bags, but there are always people around who are willing to help you out.
  • As far as recommended runes and adornments go, you must first understand the benefit of each one. For tank for example, there are some that are a must have rune like mitigation and block chance. However some tanks have hard time reaching some offensive stats so they can use other adornments that are not in the recommended list.

Before you start adjusting stats:

  • Read Guide: Stats Breakdown to understand what each stat does and how change in stat value affects your character
  • Assume that those values are to be held on your own out of combat without any active buffs
  • Stats listed in their respective categories are NOT the stats that you must have in order to start content of that category. They’re stats that you need to work towards and gain them as you upgrade your gear. When you reach these values content of that category will be easy to handle, after which you can start working towards your next tier.

Following is not taken into account:

  • Passive self, group and raid buffs that raise your stats
  • Casted self, group and raid buffs used during combat
  • Conversions (Prestige Tree, 3rd row AA)

Important changes made to stat mechanics which went live with xpac:

  • Crit Bonus is now capped at 4k


Resolve columns will display amount of resolve for each tier that you need to have on your own. This guide will assume that for each tier you will have a full group / raid and will receive benefits of all other raidwide class resolve buffs.

  • For group (heroic) content it is assumed you will receive roughly 50 resolve from a full group
  • For raid content it is assumed you will receive roughly 270 resolve from a full raid
