Questlines & Progression

Kunark Ascending adds two new essential questlines. One for adventurers and one for crafting, and additionally several dozen side quests, which are unlocked by completing parts of questline or gaining faction.

Adventure Timeline

Requirements to progress through the entire questline:

  • Levels:
    • Adventure Level 100
    • Tradeskill Level 2
  • Languages:
  • Questlines:
  • Collections:
    • Examples of Cae’Dal Script – All parts of this collection are located in Obulus Frontier and are flagged as NO-TRADE

If you’re level 100 adventurer you will automatically receive a mail from Queen Alwenielle, requesting your help. Open the mail to start the quest and depending on your alignments, speak with:

Completing adventuring timeline rewards a mount Hazrat Kingfeather. Additionally completing 30 quests in Obulus Frontier will reward you a choice of several offhand items:

Additionally these can be “upgraded” to ethereal prestige counterparts from Sarya Val’Sara <Currency Merchant> in Obulus Frontier (/way -232, 91, -241):

  • Ascendent Dagger of Vylardin
  • Ascendent Fist of Vylardin
  • Ascendent Vylardin’s Defense
  • Ascendent Vylardin’s Great Shield
  • Ascendent Vylardin’s Shield

Tradeskill Timeline

Requirements to progress through the entire questline:

If you’re level 100 artisan and have finished ToT crafting timeline you will receive a mail from Brytthel, located in Royal Palace of Maludra at (/way 371, 82, 26), requesting your help. Completing the questline you will receive a mount Brightfire, Essence of Arcanna’se and a class cloak:

Once you gain enough faction with Blood Tooth clan you will be able to purchase upgraded prestige version of the cloak from Scribbleclaw <Bloody Tooth Merchant> in Obulus Frontier (/way 76, -165, -722):

Ascension System

This ‘brand’ new system introduces 4 new classes with it’s own leveling and progression system. Think of it as an additional AA trees, but instead of respecing into different class, you will have to level up each tree on it’s own. There are a max of 10 levels for each class. As you gain ascension level you will gain new abilities (8 for each class) which are upgraded the same way as your regular abilities, although for crafted tiers, unique components are required. Each class is unique and while avatar of one is cast, all your abilities will convert their damage into corresponding type.

  • Elementalist – converts all spells into elemental damage
  • Etherealist – converts all spells into magic damage
  • Geomancer – converts all spells into crushing damage
  • Thaumaturgist – converts all spells into disease damage

Class Epic Weapons

For now, very little is known about new class epic weapons. What is known so far is that requires you to have your original class epic weapon, BUT it must have been acquired ‘old-school’ way. What this means is that you need to finish the original class weapon quest, which is a very long, faction-grind heavy quest. Doing Epic Repr. does not count! If you acquired your class weapon this way, you will need to go back and do the original quest: Class Epic Weapon quests.

Additionally to start the new quest for your class weapon, you will need to be level 5 Ascension class and be level 100.

Mercenary Leveling & Gearing System

Your mercenaries will be able to gain experience with you and be able to wear gear. Not only will their stats improve, but with each level additional gear slot is unlocked. By default following merc gear slots will be unlocked

  • Head
  • Shoulders
  • Accolde x2

As your merc gains level, additional slots will be unlocked:

  • Chest slot (at level 2)
  • Third Accolde slot(at level 3)
  • Forearms slot (at level 4)
  • Fourth Accolde slot (at level 5)

Wardrobe

This new feature is for those who like to show off their cool appearance gear. It’s located in character window, and you can stack multiple items for each slot. Then in appearance window you can right click on a gear slot and you’ll be able to select any of the geared stored in the corresponding slot in the wardrobe.

Dungeons

Difficulty legend

  • Tier I (Easy)
  • Tier II (Medium)
  • Tier III (Hard)

Suggested resolve for Heroic and Event Heroic zones:

  • Tier I: 190
  • Tier II: 240
  • Tier III: 290

Suggested resolve for Raid zones:

  • Tier I: 375
  • Tier II: 515
  • Tier III: 590
  • Tier IV: 620

Note that difficulty used are for intended audience. For example a tier I solo and a tier I heroic dungeon does not mean they’re equally easy. Players with quest/solo gear will find easy advanced solo quick and fast to run, while an easy heroic will be much more difficult to run with such gear setup. As far as raids go, there are by no means easy raids. Instead, I’ll add tiers of mobs, that are within this zone.
