So what’s new?

Planes of Prophecy adds several new questlines, 4 for adventuring heroes and one for crafters:

Questlines & Progression

Adventure Timeline

There are numerous advantages to questing this xpac. There are 3 faction questlines and one signature line. In order to progress through the first quests of Legacy of Power signature lie, you will need to work your way through one of the faction questlines to around ~35k positive faction. There’s no way around this, so start the sig line, follow the wiki walkthrough, and eventually pick one faction to work with. Pay attention to which quests you’re picking up. Each quest gives you increase with one, and decrease with two factions. Stick to one faction and only do those until you can progress further. Completing 2nd quest in sig line will unlock access to Coliseum of Valor, a hub to access all other instances, PQs, vendors and ascension trainer.

Additionally, if you max your factions with each house and do the final quest for those factions (only visible once you max out faction at 50k) and complete the signature line, you will get additional rewards:

Tradeskill Timeline

Crafting questline is rather short, especially if you have a dozen or so Potion of Innovation or Potion of Progress. Rewards are numerous for doing all 5 quests in this questline:

Ascension System

Previous ascension system will not change. Planes of Power will increase Ascension level cap to 15. New ascension trainer Sunspear is located in Coliseum of Valor (/way 164, 0, -59) that will allow you to level up ascension between 11 and 15, and additionally allow you to switch between ascension classes. Additionally, doing faction and signature quests will result in several Celestial Ascension, which will instantly increase your current ascension by one level. Each ascension class will also get 5 new abilities:

Deity Wheel System

Deity wheel will be changed significantly. You will no longer be able to add tithe points to the 3 divine stat upgrades. Instead these will be updated through the use of special baubles, which are obtained by purchasing specific items from Iks Fenn <Polished Gem Devourer> in Coliseum of Valor (/way -39, 0, 168).

Additionally, one of the 15 godspells from the wheel is updated. Judication will no longer give you 1% of groups total potency. Instead it will increase Fervor by 4.5 and Fervor Overcap by 4.5 for 10 minutes.

Soulbound Weapons

Planes of Prophecy introduces new way to upgrade your weapons. Certain PoP weapons will be flagged as soulbound, although this flag is not visible on the items. Additionally, certain old weapons have been flagged as well, like fabled and mythical epic 2.0. Once you finish PoP signature line, another short quest will open up for you from Brehita the Weaponbreaker in Coliseum of Valor (/way 112, 0, 35). After completing this quest, you will receive Extract Planar Essence ability, found under Abilities tab of your Knowledge Book. This ability can be used certain PoP items that go into primary, secondary and ranged slots from PoP. Once used, the item is destroyed, and you’re given Planar Weapon Essence. These essences are used to upgrade a weapon of your choosing, that’s flagged as Soulbound. Only looted and couple quested items can be extracted, those purchased from faction vendors or crafted can’t.

To imbue a weapon, go to Soulbound Chamber, which is right next to Brehita, click on the forge and select imbue (can imbue one, or multiple essences depending on how many you carry with you). After you select desired amount, your mouse pointer will light up, like when adorning. Open your character window and click the item from your primary, secondary or ranged slot. It takes 10 essences to gain first planar level on the weapon, and for each next one, the required amount of essences increases. Each item can be imbued up to level 10.

Public Quests

There are 3 new public quests which take place in special instances. The portal that leads to a public quest is located in Coliseum of Valor at /way 0, 2, -183. These quests happen every 3 hours, and the portal to the PQ only appears for the duration of that instance. Once the quest is completed the portal will close. There’s is an announcement that appears in your chat when you’re in either Planes of Magic or the Coliseum, warning you that PQ is gonna start in 10 minutes. After the portal opens, there’s a 10 minute delay before the script kicks in, unless there are less then 8 players in the zone, at which point the script will hold on until at least 8th player zones in. Each PQ is heavily dependent on cooperation of entire team inside, as they involve some complicated steps. These PQs take place in a special instance of one of the existing planes:

Note that difficulty used are for intended audience. For example a tier I solo and a tier I heroic dungeon does not mean they’re equally easy. Players with quest/solo gear will find easy solo quick and fast to run, while an easy heroic will be much more difficult to run with such gear setup. As far as raids go, there are by no means easy raids. Instead, I’ll add tiers of mobs, that are within this zone.

Polished gems are acquired by exchanged standard gems by Jihjen the Refiner in Coliseum of Valor (/way -28, 0, 169). To exchange the standard gem for polished you will need 250 platinum and 10 corresponding gems.

Finely Cut gems are acquired by exchanged polished gems by Koyaset the Alchemist in Coliseum of Valor (/way -25, 0, 171). To exchange the polished gem for finely cut you will need 30 Greater Tears of Ro, 2.500 platinum and 3 corresponding polished gems.

Gear exchange system

In Coliseum of Valor several vendors can be found, which will exchange armor for patterns, gems and currency.
